Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this site for?
This site is for anyone, but especially women, navigating domestic abuse who need help securing their digital safety. Whether you’re still living with someone controlling, planning your exit, or rebuilding after leaving, this space is for you.
Is this service free?
Yes. Everything here is free for people escaping domestic violence. I believe safety should never come with a price tag.
Can you help me one-on-one?
Yes, if it’s safe for you. I take on a small number of people each month for free one-on-one digital safety support. You can reach out using the secure contact form, and I’ll guide you step by step. No judgement. No pressure. Just help.
Do I need to prove I’m in danger?
No. You don’t need to share any personal details, provide police reports, or “justify” anything. If you feel unsafe or unsure, that’s enough. I trust you.
What kind of help do you offer?
I can guide you through:
Locking down your phone and accounts
Recognising if you’re being tracked
Creating a digital safety plan
Choosing secure tools (like password managers or private email)
I also provide step-by-step guides you can follow on your own, or you can reach out for one-on-one help using the secure contact form.
Is my visit to this website private?
This site doesn’t use tracking cookies or analytics. But your device and browser might still save history. Please visit the “Cover your tracks” page for steps to clear your history or use Private Mode before browsing.
Can I talk to you directly?
Yes, there’s a secure contact form where you can reach out anonymously. I’ll never pressure you to share more than you want to. You’re in control.
Are you a counsellor or therapist?
No I’m not a therapist or a legal professional. I’m a survivor and a tech-based VA who understands how dangerous digital control can be. I’m here to offer tools, support, and practical help, not therapy or crisis counselling.
Can I stay anonymous?
Yes. You don’t need to use your real name, email, or any identifying details to access the guides or get in touch. If you contact me, you can use a nickname, a private email (like ProtonMail), or say as little as you want. I’ll never ask for more than you’re comfortable sharing.
What if I’m not ready to leave yet?
That’s okay. This site isn’t here to push you, it’s here to prepare you. You can start by learning how to lock down your device, clear your tracks, or quietly plan a way forward. You’re welcome here, even if all you do is read.
How do I know if I’m being tracked?
If your partner seems to know things they shouldn’t, follows your movements, or shows up without explanation, there may be tracking software, shared accounts, or device settings leaking your info. Start with the Recognising Stalkerware guide or Lock Down Your Devices for practical steps.
I don’t know where to start. What should I do first?
Go to the Start Your Reset page. It walks you through what to read first, how to take your first steps, and how to stay as safe as possible while doing it.
Is this site run by a professional?
This site is run by a tech-based consultant and survivor. I’ve lived through digital control and stalking. I created this space to help others move quietly and confidently through what I wish I had more help with at the time. While I’m not a lawyer or crisis counsellor, I take your safety seriously, and I’ll always point you toward trusted services if you need more.
